Eco-design consists of integrating environmental issues right from the start of the design of a product or service and during all stages of its life cycle.
Apart from the obvious benefits for the preservation of our environment, eco-design is a wonderful for innovation, pushing everyone to find new ideas and processes to improve and reduce their impact.
Chez Eurotab, this approach is integrated before with an exact measurement of our impacts and the identification of priority areas that need to be improved.
The company is also involved with the Eco-Design Centre of Saint-Etienne, an association considered as the national reference in France on the subject. As a member of the office and the Board of Directors, Eurotab thus also helps to develop eco-design.
Chemistry is part of our daily lives and has revolutionised our quality of life. However, some of its excesses make us aware of our responsibility as manufacturers and spurs us on to make our activity more respectful of our surroundings in the long term.
Eco-design is an ideal way to achieve this goal and starts with a complete analysis of the entire life cycle of our products. Here are some of the actions we have taken on the key stages in the life of the tablets :
We do not use preservatives such as methylisothiazolinone in the formulations or any other substance that could have a strong negative impact on human health or the environment.
Consequently, we do not have any substances classified as carcinogenic or persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT).
The boxes are made in France from 100% recycled fibres and are 100% recyclable.
We do not consume water to produce the detergent tablets, therefore we preserve the natural resources.
As for the energy consumed, our activity requires very little and we are striving to progressively invest in carbon neutral systems.
Eurotab has used Life Cycle Assessment software developed by independent experts, EVEA, since 2016.
This is a highly valuable tool for implementing the eco-design approach for our tablets. It allows us to measure the environmental impact of our tablets from the raw material to the use.
With each new tablet, we carefully measure four impact criteria that we deem to be priorities:
By changing raw materials and components, working closely with our partner suppliers, reviewing our industrial processes and powder compression techniques, we can measure the reduction of these four impacts, identify areas for improvement and prioritise them.
Through the LCA tool and our actions, we have substantially reduced the weight of the all-in-one dishwasher tablets from 19g to 12g, a reduction of 37%.
In 2019, we launched the "mini" box, a new box format that uses 25% less cardboard and allows +75% boxes to be loaded onto a truck.
Our cardboard boxes are much more compact and are more optimally filled with tablets.
At Eurotab, we offer solutions that are better for humans, animals and the environment.
We develop products that comply with the certifications required by our customers, such as Ecolabel, Ecocert, Nordic Swan, Certified Vegan, Cruelty Free, Leaping Bunny, etc.
